I am the Reviewer and
General all-round geek. I cover games, DVDs, basically if you can slap a WWE
logo on it I’ll probably comment on it. And as soon as TNA start getting their
act together across the pond I’ll be grilling them too!
WHICH WRESTLER DO YOU RESEMBLE MOST?
Shave my head bald and I do a mean Steve Austin.
WHICH CHARACTER WOULD YOU WANT TO BE?
Same. In the ring though, personally outside of it, he’s a bit of a
&%&!
WHICH WRESTLERS DO YOU CHEER?
Kane, Undertaker, Mick Foley, Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair, Triple H, Edge, Ken
Kennedy, Shelton Benjamin, Charlie Haas, Chris Benoit, Finlay, Mickie James,
Candice Michelle, Melina, Jackie Gayda, Christian Cage, Rhino, Samoa Joe, Raven,
AJ Styles, Sting, William Regal.
WHICH WRESTLERS DO YOU BOO??
Anyone who’s outstayed their welcome with no talent, the Spirit Squad
separately (Worst example of scape goats to excuse bad buyrates) Scotty 2 Hottie,
Bobby Lashley, Eugene, Rene Dupree, Viscera, Mike “The Miz”, MVP, Mae Young
and Moolah. Anyone who’s pushed as a Legend at the expense of a new star
(Dusty Rhodes, Tatanka… anyone who accompanies Eugene) Almost all the new ECW
stars who don’t know what being in ECW actually means!
WHO DESERVES A BETTER OPPORTUNITY TO IMPRESS?
WWE - CM Punk. Seriously. They should be pushing
him to the moon, not taking him out first in the Elimination Chamber. He should
and will be world champion by the end of the year.
TNA - I don’t watch it that much, but why don’t I see
more of AJ Styles? He’s clearly the most over TNA guy apart from Joe. There
needs to be a big Joe/Styles match at some point this year.
WHO ISN’T WORTH THE HYPE?
Bobby Lashley. The way the WWE keep pushing him is
unfathomable! I don’t understand what he brings to the business. He can’t
cut a promo. He can’t wrestle for more than a few minutes. He’s the new
millennium’s Ultimate Warrior! Only worse!
WHO’S YOUR GUILTY PLEASURE?
Hmmm… Probably Kane. I keep waiting for the
office to trust in him as a Champion. Even as just a one month heel-monster
champion.
WHICH ENTERTAINER ROCKS THE MIC THE MOST?
WWE -
MIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISSSSSSSSSSSSTTTTTTTTTTERRRRRRRRRRRRR KKKKKEEENNNEDY. Seriously,
who else has rocked that mic this year…. Oh, sorry, Ken…ne…dy! Keep
expecting a Rock/Kennedy confrontation, that would be my highlight of the year!
TNA- Christian, but really there’s not much to choose
from.
WHICH WRESTLER IS THE BEST PURE GRAPPLER?
I want to say Kurt Angle, but instead I’m going
to say Benoit. More intensity from Benoit as Angle became a bit generic during
his last months in WWE and his feud against Joe hasn’t exactly set the world
on fire!(IMO)
WHICH AERIEL ARTIST IS THE BEST HIGH-FLYER?
Is anyone anymore? I would probably say Paul
London, but really no one has impressed me in that ‘oh my god, did he just do
that?’ kinda way. Jeff Hardy is getting there, but he still worries me too
much to encourage him.
WHICH WRESTLERS MADE YOU FEEL WARM AND FUZZY INSIDE?
I will admit I love ‘impact wrestlers’. By
that I mean the guys who would work a 1 minute squash, true the match is short,
but I’d take a Warrior match over a Bret Hart Iron Man match anyday.
Ultimate Warrior, Randy “Macho Man” Savage, Goldberg,
Hogan, Ricky Steamboat, Kerry Von Erich, Ric Flair (1980-1993), Roddy Piper,
Stone Cold Steve Austin, Kane, Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Candice Michelle,
Stephanie McMahon (Don’t ask, I know I need help)
WHICH WRESTLERS PISSED YOU OFF THE MOST?
Invasion Stone Cold, Invasion Kurt Angle, Jake
Roberts, X-Pac, Chyna, Carlito, Hulk Hogan (WCW days), Brutus Beefcake
(basically anything he ever did), Dusty Rhodes, Eric Bischoff (WCW), Vince Russo
(Anytime ever!) Tony(This is the Greatest list in the history of our sport)
Schiavone, Anyone who joined the NWO in 1997, Kevin Nash.
WHO HAD THE LAMEST GIMMICK EVER?
It’s a coin toss between El Gigante in WCW or
Giant Gonzales in WWF. What’s that? They’re the same person?
WHAT THE WAS THE BEST STORYLINE IN THE HISTORY OF
EXISTANCE?
The Higher Power angle. How long did that go on
for? Perfect example of a planned story. Development of the Corporation and the
Ministry. McMahon winning the Rumble and then having to fight Austin in a cage.
Kidnap of Stephanie. Shane being behind it, forming the Corporate Ministry.
Stone Cold saving Stephanie. Austin being screwed out of the title. The
revelation of the Higher Power behind it all… McMahon reveals the mask ‘It’s
me Austin! It was me all along Austin’ Linda McMahon’s ace in the hole ‘Here
is your new CEO: Stone Cold!’ His days in the office ‘Scratch Shane McMahon’s
salary, that is now the beer budget!’ The comedy ladder match. First Blood
match with Undertaker followed by the firing of Vince McMahon. ‘I am living
proof that a sorry SOB like you will never be a SOB like me!!!’ This was all
setup perfectly and I don’t care what others say.
WHICH STORYLINE HAUNTS YOU TO THE DAY, MAKES YOU CRY?
Invasion. How could such a good idea, suck
soooooooo much!??? The matches we wanted (Austin vs Goldberg/ Sting vs
Undertaker/DX vs NWO) Instead we get Stone Cold singing and then crying home and
then jumping ship, Undertaker vs DDP??? Whole Angle (no not Kurt… though he
was pretty bad) was horrible, horrible. And the worst thing is the day after the
angle ends, they bring in Ric Flair!!!! WTF!!!! Please make the memories stop!!!
THE PAY-PER-VIEW MOST WORTH YOUR MONEY?
I’d say the Royal Rumble or Wrestlemania.
Rumble, because the match is always fun, even if the undercard may suck a
little. Mania’ because there’s always one 4/5* match at least and there’s
a lot more effort put in by everyone.
BEST ENTRANCE MUSIC/THEMES?
Kane (Any), Stone Cold, New Age Outlaws,
Undertaker (Anything except his American bad ass ones!)
MOST PRIZED WRESTLING POSSESSION?
At the moment it has to be Smackdown vs Raw 2007
on the PSP. When you have an hour long train commute the fact that I can layeth
the smacketh down just about makes up for it.
ALRIGHT GEEK, HOW MANY WRESTLING SHIRTS DO YOU OWN?
1. An original Stone Cold Austin 3:16 (with
nothing else on it)
BEST WRESTLING MEMORIES (PRO OR NOT)?
This is an odd one considering what it is. I have two and
they both involve ‘impact’. The first was watching Summerslam 1988. I was
about to fast forward through a Honkeytonk Man match when …. Boom! The Warrior’s
music hit. He ran, he shook, he clotheslined, he slammed, he splashed. 1, 2, 3!
New Champion!!! It was the first time I’d ever been just blown away by a
match.
The other was during the Invasion that I hated. Austin had
walked out on the company and was drinking in a bar. Finally WWE were fighting
the Alliance and getting their asses kicked and then suddenly… the glass broke…
and he came down. Stonecold must have delivered near a dozen Stunners and it was
just magical! Of course it was the only highlight as he then broke my heart…
again!
